Preliminary reports of respect offered consistently exceed reports of respect received. This is true across settings and age groups. Here's an example of reports from our safety circles. Caution warranted, as we're working with small numbers of voices, and missing data is a struggle.

Respect and Social Support
Our grounding in respect is based in not only lived experience, but evidence from scientific studies, too.
Respect is an essential component of social support, which appears to be an antidote to the isolation that's so common in rural communities.
Did you know that social support seems to be especially helpful for young women, compared to older people, or men, in general?
Did you know that this trend seems to reverse with age? Yeah, for real. Social support seems more important for men than women, at older ages.
